New World Tree

©1997 Ruth B. McDowell

The sketch for this quilt began wit ha wonderfully knobby New Zealand pohutakawa tree. The knobs led to circles, and the tree changed considerably. The printed cotton fabrics are from all over the world, Finland, Japan, and of a range of ages. The border is an adaptation from a Bannock-Shoshone corn-stalk cradle-board design, c.1890.
